A DREAM COME TRUE

For Nicole Astorga, the dream of having a quinceañera to honor her transformation at 15-years-old from a girl to a woman was almost unattainable.

She and her two sisters live in a small duplex with their mother, Sylvia Astorga, a single parent.

Not only were the costs high for such an ocassion, but Nicole's Dec. 14 birthday usually meant Christmas presents and not birthday ones.

With the help of padrinos, or sponsors, friends, family and a mother who wished only happiness for her daughter, Nicole's dream came true. On Oct. 8, 2005, and not quite 15, she was given although honors of the quinceañera.
